Turquoise Rings
Ten hand-painted circles on pure white silk — each one different, each one a world. The most refined statement is often the simplest one.

The Soul of the Artwork
The hardest thing to do in art is to stop.
In "Turquoise Rings," artist Gamze Haberal made exactly that choice. No botanical detail, no flowing gradient, no complex layering of form — just ten hand-painted circles, scattered with quiet intention across a ground of luminous white silk. Each ring is its own small universe: organic in shape, never perfectly round, its edges softened by the natural behavior of pigment meeting fiber. The inner ground of each circle holds a lighter wash of turquoise, the outer ring slightly deeper, the two tones meeting in a gradient that shifts from teal to cyan depending on the angle of light.
No two rings are the same. They differ in size, in the weight of pigment applied, and in the precise moment the brush lifted from the silk. Some sit closer together, creating an informal rhythm. Others drift apart, allowing the white ground to breathe between them. Their arrangement moves diagonally down the full length of the shawl — not centered, not symmetrical, but perfectly composed in the way that only a trained eye and a confident hand can achieve.
This is a shawl that reveals itself slowly. At first glance: ten circles. Second: ten individual paintings. At third: a conversation between form, color, and the white space that surrounds them. Painted once, in a single unrepeatable session. This arrangement of rings will never exist again.
The Luxury of Pure Silk
When a composition is this spare, the material carries everything. 100% pure 9-momme mulberry silk was the only possible canvas for this work. Its natural luminosity transforms the white ground into something active — not empty, but present, glowing, participating. The turquoise pigments, applied directly to this living surface, take on a depth that no printed fabric could replicate: translucent at the center of each ring, saturated at the outline, catching light differently as the silk moves. Worn against the body, the shawl drapes with a liquid softness that gives even these still, geometric forms a sense of motion.
Why This Artwork?
"Turquoise Rings" is for the collector who has moved beyond decoration and arrived at discernment. It is a shawl that will not explain itself to everyone — and that is precisely its value. In a room full of pattern and print, ten hand-painted circles on white silk will stop the right person completely.
This is the "ONE OF SILK" piece for the woman whose wardrobe is already considered, whose eye is already trained, and who recognizes immediately that what she is looking at is not a design — it is a decision. An artistic decision, made once, by a painter, with a brush, in a room in Bodrum.
The edges are finished with a fully hand-rolled hem, executed entirely by hand — the quiet final act of a work defined throughout by restraint and intention.
